Last season's CRMF 2022 Virtual Musicfest

In order to support the rebuilding of our Music Programs, CRMF 2022 will be once again striving to support schools in whatever way we can. To that end, we will be offering you and your students a variety of different performance and clinic options for 2022. The options are listed below:

  1. Virtual Performance- You can choose to record your ensemble and submit the recording for either a Rating or No-Rating

  2. Clinic (your choice of In-person or Virtual)- based on what the adjudicator has heard in your performance

  3. Clinic Only- An adjudicator will clinic your ensemble. This will be your choice of an in-person clinic or a virtual clinic.

We will do our best to meet all requests for in-person clinics, however, the availability of adjudicators who are able to do live clinics may be limited at this time.

How it works

CRMF will pair you with a clinician so that you can arrange for a mutually convenient time to work with your ensemble.

Ensembles will perform their festival pieces for the clinician, who will then work with the ensemble for one hour. Band directors may ask clinicians to work on certain concepts with their ensemble or go over the pieces submitted for performance. The fee structure below indicates the cost for clinics.

Fee Structure:

Concert and Jazz Ensembles:

$225 - includes 3 adjudicators and a 1-hour clinic for the first 3 ensembles registered per school. The fee for your school’s fourth ensemble and beyond will be $175.

Chamber Ensembles / Jazz Combos and World Music Ensembles:

$175 - includes 2 adjudicators and a 1-hour clinic

Clinic Only

$100

Note the following changes for CRMF 2022 only:

The CRMF 2022 Mobile Musicfest will be RATINGS OPTIONAL. We want the focus to be on the joy that comes with making music and improving our craft, and we encourage band directors who don’t feel a rating would be appropriate for their students to choose this option. As always, the festival remains non-competitive, and ratings will not be published.

There will be no honour awards given out by the CRMF committee this year.

There will be no official photographer and no group picture organized by CRMF.

Band directors are responsible for all sound equipment for their clinics (mics for adjudicators if desired, any sound system for Jazz Ensembles).

There will be no student volunteer opportunities this year.

Musicfest Nationals Qualification

Existing 2-year invitations from the 2019 Capital Region Music Festival have been extended to this year.

Bands without 2-year invitations looking to qualify for the 2022 edition of MusicFest Nationals can follow the steps outlined on the MusicFest Canada Website under “Invitation by Special Audition”.

Clinicians for Virtual CRMF 2022

Clinicians will be assigned to schools by CRMF, but ensembles will receive 2 or 3 adjudications (depending on the ensemble class) in addition to the virtual/in-person clinic.

Confirmed clinicians for CRMF 2022 are

Concert Band:

Tim Anderson, Isabelle Brassard-Porter, Fran Chilton-Mackay, Jonathan Dagenais, Christine Hansen

Jazz Band
